This bronze coin was minted by Herod I, also known as Herod the Great during his reign from 40-4 BC. This coin has an anchor on one side and a cornucopias on the reverse. Herod took the very familiar coin images from the previous Hasmonian coins of the widow's mite anchor and the cornucopia from the Hyrcanus coins. This coin has dots above the cornucopia with dates it to Herod the Great. Herod Archelaus minted a similar coin but with a letter above the cornucopia. Nice clear image both sides in a brown toned natural patina finish.
