HEROD I THE GREAT Anchor Cornucopia Prutah (Herod Anchor 02)
This bronze coin was minted by Herod I, also known as Herod the Great during his reign from 40-4 BC.  This coin has an anchor on one side and a cornucopia on the reverse.  Herod took the very familiar coin images from the previous Hasmonaean coins of the widow's mite anchor and the cornucopia from the Hyrcanus coins.   This coin has dots above the cornucopia with dates it to Herod the Great.   Herod Archelaus minted a similar coin but with a letter above the cornucopia.   Super sharp clear images and nicely centered.
